Milan shoot their way back to the top of the table

AC Milan successfully defended its lead against city rivals Inter in the championship race of the Italian Serie A.

On the third-to-last matchday, Milan won 3-1 (1-1) at Hellas Verona and thus remain two points ahead of the club of national player Robin Gosens, who initially overtook FC Empoli 4-2 on Friday.

Sandro Tonali (45’+3′, 50′) scored twice for Milan, who won their 18th and last Scudetto in 2011. Alessandro Florenzi made everything clear in the 87th minute. Marco Faraoni (38th) had put Verona in the lead.

Because the direct comparison counts in Italy when there is a tie and AC Milan won this against last year’s champions Inter (2-1, 1-1), the Rossoneri could even afford a draw in the last two games against Atalanta Bergamo or Sassuolo Calcio.
