Milan-Lumezzane 7-0: Pobega-Colombo brace, Pulisic debut and Loftus-Cheek. The match

Messias, Romero and Zeroli also scored in the two-half half-hour practice match against their Serie C opponents. Pulisic in evidence in the first match with the 4-3-3

– Milanello (Va)

Obvious points reaffirmed by Milan-Lumezzane, Milan’s first friendly 2023-24: Christian Pulisic is a strong player. Less obvious evolutions: Milan with the 4-3-3, a very comfortable Pobega, central Krunic in a three-man midfield. You are likely to see him often in that area. Milan-Lumezzane finished 7-0: four goals in the first half (brace from Pobega, Messias, Colombo) and three in the second (Colombo, penalty from Romero and Zeroli). For Lumezzane, a side street from Capelli. Normal against an opponent who has just been promoted from D to C, in a strange match: 30 minutes in the first half, the second just over 35 to make room for everyone.

NOW LOFTUS

The Milan fans on TV saw Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic, Romero and Sportiello in the Rossoneri for the first time and among all, for what a match like this is worth, the American was impressed. For the first goal he jumped the man on the left and freed Pobega in the middle of the area. For the second… he repeated the ending: another ball for Pobega, another easy goal. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is less flashy but the game said something about his future. Pioli made him play from right midfield, with the freedom to choose whether to duck down to play the ball or attack the area. He will be a starter in Milan’s midfield. Loftus-Cheek entered the third goal: ball for Krunic who released Messias vertically, good at jumping the goalkeeper.

OUT OF ORIGIN-REBIC

Messias invites us to open a parenthesis. Junior played from the start, Adli came on in the second half. Rebic, Origi, Caldara and Lazetic were also out of the friendly (as well as the American tour): it is very clear how they are out of the project. In place of the two strikers, Lorenzo Colombo will go to the United States who, after the season in Lecce, will stay a couple more weeks with Milan before the probable new departure. Colombo, born in 2002, scored twice, thanks to a couple of kind gifts from Lumezzane. Side note: Zeroli’s last headed goal is beautiful, he definitely has something… and not from today.

AND NOW?

Tomorrow Milan will leave for the United States: they will stay about ten days in Los Angeles, where the temperatures will be slightly lower than in Italy, then they will go to Las Vegas. The 4-3-3, Pulisic and Loftus-Cheek will meet again. In the second part of the tour, the internationals too, who returned to Milanello a few hours ago. Three matches against Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona are scheduled. No, it doesn’t start slowly.
