The German in his first start created three goals, giving important signals to Allegri

January 11 – 7.29pm – FLORENCE

Fiorentina-Milan is a progress advertisement for Milan’s market in attack. On the Sunday in which Leao was harmless and Pulisic wasted three chances that he usually misses, Milan created three goals with Niclas Füllkrug and equalized with Christopher Nkunku. The tip arrived in the summer and the one taken in January. It’s early to reach conclusions but there is a sign.

Füllkrug and Nkunku: what they did

Füllkrug and Nkunku, cheerfully, did the simple things well. The man called Hole – that strange space between the teeth… – sent Pulisic into the goal three times, opening up the old center forward manual: he defended the ball with his back to the goal, returned the one-two, sent his teammate into the goal with a play of the sole and knocked down a clearance from English football in the Sixties. For the kids playing in front, an educational video to watch again. Nkunku, on the other hand, turned the game around with an essential execution: cut into the area and right-footed shot to the near post. No flourishes, no feints or dribbles, just the pure art of the attacker. For a player often accused of being many things and none at the same time – a centre-forward, a second striker, a midfielder – it is a nice redemption.

market, fenerbahçe no thanks

The big issue now is understanding who will play in Como, with Lecce, let’s say in the next matches. For the second consecutive match, Allegri finished the match with three attackers together: Leao, Pulisic and Nkunku coexisted in the last quarter of an hour, to tell the truth producing little other than the goal. It is very difficult to see this hyper offensive structure at the start of the match: Allegri will continue with two strikers but will have more doubts in his choice. Nkunku, you can see, is a little hopeful: “I don’t know if we’ll play with three strikers more often, you have to ask the coach. I have to take advantage of the opportunities they give me.” The most interesting phrase, however, is the answer to the transfer question, the one about Fenerbahçe’s interest: “They’re just rumors, I’m only focused on Milan.” Clear and clean.

cheerful and the tips: the opinion

At the end of the match Allegri distributed opinions and comments on the attack and individuals: “In football you can’t have 100 chances, up front you have to be more precise.” Pulisic’s ears rang in the shower. Max returns: “Füllkrug made two assists in the first half, he’s a player who becomes important inside the area. Nkunku, on the other hand, scored a goal as a centre-forward, he expresses himself very well there. When he does things with malice, things come better for him. Leao isn’t feeling very well yet, in the last minutes he could have determined more by taking a slightly more out of the way position to be able to play one-on-one.” The funniest phrase, however, comes far from the microphone. Allegri is leaving the conference room and Nkunku is at the door. When they meet, Max comments: “Well, thank goodness you scored a goal.” And the Livornese smile of beautiful moments escapes him.
