Fiorentina-Milan is a progress advertisement for Milan’s market in attack. On the Sunday in which Leao was harmless and Pulisic wasted three chances that he usually misses, Milan created three goals with Niclas Füllkrug and equalized with Christopher Nkunku. Nkunku, on the other hand, turned the game around with an essential execution: cut into the area and right-footed shot to the near post. No flourishes, no feints or dribbles, just the pure art of the attacker. For a player often accused of being many things and none at the same time – a centre-forward, a second striker, a midfielder – it is a nice redemption.

The big issue now is understanding who will play in Como, with Lecce, let’s say in the next matches. For the second consecutive match, Allegri finished the match with three attackers together: Leao, Pulisic and Nkunku coexisted in the last quarter of an hour, to tell the truth producing little other than the goal. It is very difficult to see this hyper offensive structure at the start of the match: Allegri will continue with two strikers but will have more doubts in his choice.
