The Rossoneri’s 2026 was the saddest year of their career: without goals and with the Champions League goal fading away at the end of the season. However, the opportunity for a sensational recovery opens up for Pulisic: he will be the symbol of the United States national team at the home World Cup. Chris will be the host while in his last period at Milan he almost felt uncomfortable, cornered. By nature he is not a talker or even an extrovert: in his confidentiality, however, he had let the club know that he did not want to prolong his AC Milan adventure. And whoever the next coach is, he will not be able to fail to recognize quality and talent in Pulisic. At twenty-seven he is a player in the midst of professional maturity: not too young (already 42 goals in 134 games for Milan) nor too experienced, an age factor that the Rangnick current would not look favorably upon.

At this point it would be necessary to restart the dialogues for the renewal, as well as to convince Pulisic of his centrality in the new course. The current salary is four million: in the latest discussions for the extension it seems that the request was even to double the salary. Request outside the market, perhaps even provocative, certainly not justified by the last months on the pitch: the last goal dates back to 28 December 2025. The offer will be much lower but the rest can make the difference: a role that once again enhances him, a coach who knows him, like Pochettino, or who in any case will want to enhance his characteristics, like the playmakers of the Rangnick school. Of course, Chris will be able to ask for a Leao and Maignan style contract, the other current scrooges in the squad. But without thinking of further raising the club’s salary cap. It was Cardinal himself who dictated the new line, immediately after the failure of the current one: he will be closer to the day-to-day management of the club. The extension of Pulisic’s contract is one of those practices that he would once have delegated and which he will now want to follow very closely.
