Olympic winners Marko Anttila and Mikko Lehtonen will join the Lions World Cup camp as new players.

Lehtonen played KHL in the St. Petersburg SKA this season. He continued in the company even though Russia invaded Ukraine.

According to the national team, the defender is still welcome to the Lion.

– We have had discussions with him and we know the facts. Based on these, we warmly welcome Lehtonen to the Lions Journey, GM Jere Lehtinen says in a press release.

The lion’s camp will continue next week in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Anttila will travel to the venue a few days later than the rest of the team, as Ilves will play the Finnish Champions League bronze match against KooKoo on Sunday.

The Czech Euro Hockey Tour is played in Ostrava. Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Austria are included.

The lions will play their first match on Thursday against the host country.

Björninen on the side

There are currently 29 players in the Lions lineup.

Slightly injured in a practice match in Norway on Thursday Hannes Björninen is on the sidelines next week. However, the striker can join in the first week of May, when the Swedish EHT tournament will be played.

Played with Lehtonen at SKA Leo Komarov is not in the spring with the Lions, as the attacker is not in full game condition.

The World Championships will be played in Tampere and Helsinki on 13-29. May.
