Author Miki Liukkonen has died on July 4, 2023 in Helsinki. We will tell you about it of the WSOY in the bulletin. Born in Oulu, Liukkonen was 33 years old when he died. The cause of death has not been made public so far.
Publishing editor Samuli Knuuti remembers his long-time friend Liukkos in the news release.
– Sometimes I run out of words, but I have to write. This is one of those moments. Miki Liukkonen was my dear friend, a heartfelt listener and, in my opinion, the most talented writer of his generation, with whom I had the pleasure of working on five novels, three poetry books and one parody of a children’s book. They will live for a long time, but I cannot accept that their maker is gone, Knuuti states.
– Miki often told me that life is too much for him. He expressed this feeling in his novels, one of which is masterful Life: A Preface (2021) showed everything that was human fluently, funny and so accurately that its author seemed to carry many lives, many personalities, many worlds inside him. Now they are all gone. This is a cliché, but sometimes we have nothing else: Rest in peace, Miki, Knuuti more.
During his lifetime, Liukkonen had time to write a respectable output, which includes, among other things, the works White poems, Master of silence and O. The aforementioned work received several award nominations, including the Finlandia nomination for fiction, and critics called it one of the most important domestic novels of the 2010s. In 2012, the Oulu Writers’ Association awarded Liukkonen the Nuori Pakkala literary award.
In September, we will receive one more novel from Liukko that bears the same name Guest mode.
Liukkonen dated a singer for a long time Behmin with, but the couple broke up in May 2023. The two were engaged for about a year.
