Nobody has as many World Cup victories as Mikaela Shiffrin. The American now spoke about her record brand-and her relationship with Alexander Aamodt Kilde.

Both are among the best in the world on the slopes. US star Mikaela Shiffrin is even a World Cup record holder. But her partner, Norwegian Alexander Aamodt Kilde, also won the Departure World Cup in the 2022/23 season. The ski couple has been engaged since last year. Most recently, Kilde sent his partner to love greetings when she celebrated her 100th World Cup victory.

Now Shiffrin spoke about the moment of engagement. “He was really very proud that he surprised me. And I was really,” said the American about the Swiss “Tagesanzeiger”. And then the 29-year-old also raved about her fiance: “He is really incredible. I’m so happy to see him again. I can hardly put it in words.”

After a severe fall in January 2024, Kilde is still not back in the World Cup, now had to undergo shoulder surgery again. Shiffrin also spoke about the challenges that the couple had to master last.

“It was really a difficult summer. Actually, it was a difficult year. Our engagement was a nice moment in the middle of rather negative events,” said Shiffrin. Because she too fell at the end of the year and fell out for a long time.

She is now back and expanded her record statistics. She also won World Cup gold in combination with teammate Breezy Johnson. Shiffrin admitted to the “Tagesanzeiger”: “No matter what I do, in the end everything revolves around skiing. And about how all of these actions affect the moment I have to perform.” Then she added: “I just go on my way and try to be strong enough to win or to fight for victory.”
