Rap artist Mikael Gabriel, 32, became a father in 2020 after having his first child together with Triana Iglesias. As the father of an almost two-year-old daughter, Mikael Gabriel has learned many things about himself as well, which he opens up in a recent episode of the Jäbät ja tutunet podcast.

Mikael Gabriel says in the episode that he was even afraid of fatherhood.

– Taking care of another person even though you have the feeling that you can’t even take care of yourself, it’s really scary. The responsibility is thrust into your lap and you have no choice. Well, you have options, you can run away, that’s what my father did, says Mikael Gabriel.

The rapper reveals that he has also let go of a certain kind of “squeezing” in life. Even consumption habits have changed with the birth of a daughter.

– Rather than buying those new pants, I’ll put the 150 euros in the girl’s savings account. It is his future, he adds.

Collapsed in childbirth

In the episode, Mikael Gabriel recalls the day when his Uma-daughter was born. He had confidently stepped into the maternity hospital while Triana was already there. The rapper describes his wife as screaming in pain, while Mikael himself had told her to just take it easy.

When the birth itself began, Mikael Gabriel says that he was surprised by how strong his wife was.

– I remember when that child came. I just collapsed. I started crying and I couldn’t stop crying. It took hours before I could be with that child, Mikael Gabriel reveals.

Crying followed him home. He says that he went for a run with the dog so that he could cry alone. According to Mikael Gabriel, father problems and the fact that the easiest thing would be to just run away came to mind.

– I realized that the only one who died was me. I was born again in that moment, a completely new person. I’ve never felt anything so strong, I’ve never been so mad about something, Mikael Gabriel says when talking about fatherhood.
