The municipality of Midden-Drenthe has drawn up a preferred order for the construction of solar parks. The municipality wants to construct 60 to 90 hectares of solar parks to achieve the goals for energy generation for 2030.

There were more than 1,000 applications in the registration to be allowed to install solar parks. From those applications, a ranking has now been made of plans that best match the principles of the municipality.

The best rated plan combines the construction of a solar park with a water storage. That should be east of Beilen in the brook valley between Klatering and the N381.

Another plan that scores high is a floating solar park on a former sand extract, between the A28 and the Mussels south of Beilen. In addition, there are plans that combine solar energy with agriculture and plans that strengthen the landscape.

According to the municipality, 2 to 4 plans are needed to reach the 90 hectare. The municipality is now in discussions with the petitioners of the best rated plans.
