Michelin Chief Inspector Werner Loens about the meager harvest of stars: “Some businesses have had to close suddenly, otherwise they would have received a star” | Domestic

Apart from the predicted two stars for the reopened Hof van Cleve, the new Michelin Guide 2024 is mainly a transitional edition. Few newcomers, even fewer dropouts and no new three-star business for our country. It could certainly have been a bit more vibrant: “However, there are already a number of ‘three-star dossiers’ in progress, but at the moment it is not good enough yet,” says Michelin chief inspector Werner Loens, who also discusses two-star chef Nick Bril of The Jane in more detail. “We are not the police. Inspectors are just customers who are just going to eat somewhere.”
