Michael van Gerwen has reached the quarterfinals of the World Series of Darts Finals with some difficulty. De Vlijmenaar was too strong for Australian Damon Heta (6-4) in a packed AFAS Live on Saturday.

Van Gerwen threw an average of more than 97 points per three arrows. But he only used 21 percent of his doubles.

Earlier on Saturday, Dirk van Duijvenbode also joined the last eight. He beat Scotsman Gary Anderson (6-3). Danny Noppert can reach the quarterfinals on Saturday as the third Dutchman. He encounters Jonny Clayton, the defending champion from Wales.

The quarterfinals, semifinals and final will be played in AFAS Live on Sunday.
