Michael van Gerwen stranded early in Premier League Berlin

Michael van Gerwen was eliminated in the quarter-finals during the ninth round of the Premier League in Berlin. The 33-year-old darts player from Vlijmen lost 6-5 to Jonny Clayton from Wales.

Clayton immediately won the first leg that Van Gerwen started and then his ‘own’ leg. The margin of two legs held the darts player from Wales for a while, but ‘Mighty Mike’ drew the score back to 4-4. Van Gerwen was allowed to start the leg at 5-5, but he lost the initiative.

Clayton missed his first arrow on double 14, but in the next inning it hit double 7. Van Gerwen previously won the fourth, fifth and sixth rounds in the Premier League.
