The Champions League starts next week. It also starts for FC Bayern. Michael Ballack does not see the Munich Favorite role. Instead, he trusts Eintracht a lot.
FC Bayern Munich will start the new Champions League season against FC Chelsea next Wednesday (from 9 p.m. in the T-Online live ticker), but ex-national player Michael Ballack does not trust the team the big hit. For him, the German record champion is currently not part of the first row of title candidates.
In an interview with the “Sport Bild”, Ballack said that FC Bayern is not one of the absolute top favorites for him, but is a challenger. He justified his assessment with the early end of the club World Cup and the balance sheet of the past few years.
Ballack stated: “Bayern can beat every opponent. But we have to talk about the momentum: In the previous season, they left Inter Milan in the quarter -finals.” Since the title win in 2020, the Bundesliga club has only made it into the semi -finals of the premier class.
The top favorites included Ballack FC Barcelona and defending champion Paris Saint-Germain. Club world champion FC Chelsea, for the ballack in his active career as well as for FC Bayern, could be a surprise. “Success will give a lot of confidence,” predicted the 48-year-old. Ballack also has a lot of trust in Eintracht Frankfurt under coach Dino Toppmöller. “Eintracht will play a good role, maybe it goes to the quarter -finals or even more,” said Ballack.
Before the German record champion has to run next Wednesday, Borussia Dortmund against Juventus Turin will be in action next Tuesday. On Thursday afterwards, the “Königsklassen” trip starts for Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen.
