Mia Nicolai cuts off BLVD as kitchen timer goes off: inflated ego?

You would think Mia Nicolai after her Eurovision debacle really does everything for a few minutes airtime in RTL Boulevard, but nothing could be further from the truth. “Oh, sorry, time is up!”

It shouldn’t get crazier: Mia Nicolai, known for the out-of-tune Eurovision duo Mia & Dion, set a kitchen timer during her very first post-Eurovision interview yesterday. RTL Boulevard reporter Aran Bade reacts downright surprised when that thing goes off and the singer shouts that it is time to end the interview.

Mia has left her buddy Dion behind in Liverpool and now wants to achieve success as a solo artist. With her new song she managed to make it to the broadcast of the country’s most watched show section: RTL Boulevard. With the average novice artist, the flag goes out, but in Mia’s universe you turn on the kitchen timer.

For the interview with star reporter Aran, Mia had only planned a specific number of minutes and she absolutely did not want to go over that. When that thing goes off, she says, “Timing! I will answer the question as soon as possible.”

‘I’m going to close’

If she does get a question about her Eurovision adventure, Mia says in conclusion: “I really gave everything there was at that moment. I’m proud of that and that’s what I’m going to end it with, because the time is up and we’re going to continue recording here.”

Aran: “Oh, time’s up?”

Mia: “Yes, time is up.”

Then the bell rings with Aran about what exactly that kitchen timer was intended for. “Oh, you set an alarm.”

Mia: “Yes, that was my alarm clock.”

Bridget laughs

Bridget Maasland thinks it’s an absurd situation. She has a good laugh about it at the desk: “Aran, I especially have to laugh so much about that head of yours! ‘The alarm clock? What?! Then it’s over?’”

What exactly is behind this? Aran: “She has booked a very expensive studio, because she is writing new music, so let’s look forward to that. They had to continue, because it costs a lot of money.”

Luck in an accident: Mia also no longer had time to sing live. Can that kitchen timer be taken to every interview from now on?
