MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg lose to Sassari in the Champions League

After three wins in a row across all competitions, the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg left the floor as losers again. On Tuesday (November 7th, 2023), the Bundesliga basketball team lost its home game in the Champions League against Banco di Sardegna Sassari with 79:89 (38:45).

In the group phase of the European Cup, the Swabians suffered their second defeat in their third game. The Giants last played against Polish club King at the end of October Szczecin won after a furious race to catch up.

Ludwigsburg starts well, but quickly fades

Ludwigsburg hit their first three three-pointers and opened the game with a 10-2 run. On the other side, Sassari kept getting close to the basket and was there rebound superior – so Ludwigsburg’s lead dwindled to one point difference at the quarter break. Giants fight back and still lose

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Sassari extended its lead to a 14-point difference. Then Yorman Polas Bartolo (15 points) brought Ludwigsburg back with an 8-0 run. In the final phase, the basketball Bundesliga team reduced the lead to 79:82, but couldn’t get any closer.
