The biggest concert in Germany to date was U2 in 2009. At that time, almost 90,000 people crowded into the Olympic Stadium at the same time. This spectacle was possible primarily because of the stage construction at the time: a 360-degree round stage. Real Metallica fans will now guess where this is going. Metallica also uses such a construction – only more compact and with a snake pit. This means more space inside and around the stage. In addition to possible high fives with the artists, this also enables greater stadium occupancy. According to the Berliner Zeitung, around 95,000 fans can be accommodated at the same time. This would destroy the 17-year-old attendance record and set a new one.

Renovation work is in full swing

In order to manage this undertaking, renovation work in the stadium began immediately after the cup final on May 23rd. Since then, the steel structures have been growing and the floor has been secured ready for a mosh pit. Some Herthaners may ask themselves whether the turf will be kept in the best condition – no, it’s gone after that. It has to be reinvested for around 400,000 to 600,000 euros. Well, it’s only the 2nd league anyway.

This is why there is also an increasingly rare experience when it comes to ticket sales: the tickets are completely sold out. Anyone who planned to spontaneously exchange a kidney on the black market for an overpriced black market ticket is unfortunately too late. Even snake pit tickets for up to 2,450 euros have sold like hockey ice cream in the heated city center. Anyone who doesn’t understand this comparison is probably the average age of our valued ROLLING STONE readers and has better things to do than chase trends. Understandable.

What cover insert can Berlin expect?

It will also be interesting to observe the trend of Metallica’s cover insert in Frankfurt. Since “black and white like snow” sounded in the Waldparkstadion, fans of Hertha BSC Berlin could be waiting for musical compensation for the pitch. With a bit of luck, a rock version of “Only Home” will echo through Berlin. Good music is guaranteed in any case, because in addition to the opening acts Knocked Loose and Gojira, fans can look forward to Metallica’s greatest hits at the individual concert.

Why does Campino think that sometimes it’s good to just keep your mouth shut? Why does he sometimes feel like a drinks delivery man? He provides the answer in our cover story about the Toten Hosen’s big farewell, exclusively in issue 06/26. And that’s not all: the magazine includes the world exclusive 7-inch single “Always just loved” – on which Sven Regener from Element of Crime also contributed.
