Merger LangeLand Hospital and Haga Hospital is complete: this means it for Zoetermeer

On Wednesday 1 March, the LangeLand Hospital and the Haga Hospital in The Hague officially merged. Little will change for Zoetermeer residents for the time being. In the longer term, the care on offer at both locations will change.

On 1 June, the name LangeLand Hospital will change to Haga Hospital Zoetermeer. In time, the existing building will be transformed into a new, modern hospital building. Despite the merger, the more than 6,000 employees continue to work for the foundation.

Basic nursing remains

After the merger, the Haga Hospital now has two locations: in The Hague and in Zoetermeer. Which care will be provided at which location has yet to be discussed. In any case, it is certain that basic care (basic nursing) will remain possible in Zoetermeer. Specific treatments will be concentrated in one of two locations. So it remains to be seen what will come out of the plans.

Intensive care

We hope not, but if you need acute care in the future, you can go to the new Center for Acute Care. This is a collaboration between the hospital, general practitioners and other care partners. A patient requiring intensive care is taken to the Intensive Care Unit (IC) of the Haga Hospital in The Hague or another nearby hospital as quickly as possible.

Intensive care is disappearing

In Zoetermeer, the intensive care unit will be replaced by a number of beds for the care of vitally endangered patients. The new organization will still determine what acute obstetrics will look like. In addition, both hospitals will continue to collaborate in the Reinier Haga Prostate Cancer Center in Delft and the Reinier Haga Orthopedic Center in Zoetermeer. The collaboration in the Reinier Hartcentrum also continues, despite the fact that the collaboration with Reinier Hagagroep has been discontinued.
