Merel Ek passed as a quiz question in the Astrid Joosten-Quiz two to twelve and the candidates in the studio had no idea who she actually is. “Typically the NPO. Really so elitist!”

Because of her presence in today, she has rapidly grown into one of the most famous political reporters in our country: Merel Ek. But when hearing her name, not everyone is ringing a bell. Two candidates in the Astrid Joosten-Quiz two for twelve had no some idea who Merel is.

Just out of the picture

Presenter Wilfred Genee fears that Merel’s brand awareness will only decline further, he jokes in Today Inside. “How is it going soon? You will be out of the picture. Are you afraid that people will forget you? Because you are just a phenomenon now. You can’t get the street, because everyone knows you!”

Merel then: “No, not at all. No. 17 million people still don’t look at this program, so that is not so bad.”

Really a concept

Wilfred then quotes two to twelve. “I mean: if you have even become part of two to twelve, then you are really a household name.”

Astrid in the quiz: “Since 2020 she has been working as a political reporter at the SBS 6 program Hart van Nederland. She also regularly joins as Bargast at today Inside, where she often serves Johan Derksen. In her speech she also referred to the resilience training she had received from VI. Who is she?”

The participating mother and daughter then say in Koor: “Never heard of this woman. We’re going to visit that.”

“Elitarian guests!”

Merel finds it hilarious. “Yes, they had no idea. Isn’t that good, isn’t it?”

Wilfred is something more serious. “Unbelievable this, isn’t it? Really not normal this.”

Johan Derksen: “They do that about it! They really know you!”

Wilfred: “All that elitaire right, isn’t it! From: that plebs in this program, etc.. If you had been with the VARA, she would of course have known you. Elitarian guests all at the public broadcaster. That’s it.”
