According to a survey, bargain hunting on the days surrounding Black Friday is significantly more popular with men than with women. This emerges from a representative survey of 2,000 people by the management consultancy PwC, which is available to the German Press Agency. 70 percent of Germans are specifically looking for offers during the discount campaign. On average, they want to spend 281 euros, consumers 331 euros and female consumers 234 euros.
According to the survey, the most popular products are electronic devices (40 percent) and clothing (33 percent). 71 percent of people want to look for Christmas presents. “Despite or perhaps because of the continued difficult economic situation, consumer interest is high,” explained PwC retail expert Christian Wulff.
The German Trade Association (HDE) expects sales of 5.8 billion euros for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Compared to 2022, that would be an increase of three percent. Because of consumers’ poor purchasing mood, it is not to be expected that there will be such big growth spurts as there have been recently, according to the industry association. In 2022, sales on the two days of the campaign increased by 20 percent compared to the previous year.
This year, Black Friday falls on November 24th and Cyber Monday on November 27th. But it has become common practice in retail to entice customers with special offers in the days and weeks before the actual deadline. (dpa)
