Patrick Muldoon’s cause of death is now known.

The Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place star died, according to his death certificate. on April 19 at age 57 from a heart attack — medically called a myocardial infarction, People Magazine reports.

Pulmonary embolism and hereditary coagulopathy were reported as underlying diseases. Coagulopathy is a genetic disorder of blood clotting that can lead to excessive bleeding or a pathological tendency to thrombosis. A pulmonary embolism is a blood clot that blocks blood flow in a pulmonary artery, as the Mayo Clinic explains.

Cremation on April 28th

Muldoon was cremated on Tuesday, April 28th.

His manager had previously confirmed his death to Variety. An official cause of death was not given at the time; However, Deadline reported that he died after suffering a heart attack.

Muldoon rose to prominence when he was cast in a three-episode arc in Saved by the Bell – his character was infamous for sparking Zack and Kelly’s breakup. He then took on the role of Austin Reed in the popular soap opera Days of Our Lives, which he played from 1992 to 1995 and again from September 2011 to July 2012. He also played the recurring character Richard Hart on Melrose Place for three seasons in the mid-1990s.
