“The dance floor is dead – now we make rock music”: Charli xcx invites you to the Conversation event and could announce her new album there.

Charli xcx has hosted an event where she wants to give an update on her new album project.

The announced event is a question and answer session about their current projects and the resulting general exchange between creative people. Dubbed a “conversation event,” it is scheduled to take place in New York City in May 2026.

“I would be very happy to talk to you”

The singer made the event announcement via Instagram: She uploaded a post in the style of a printed newspaper and wrote: “New York, May 2026. Conversations. I would be very happy to talk to you. All the best from Charli xcx.”

An announcement under the post from the 33-year-old Brit continued: “I love talking to my friends about crafting, the creation process and so on. So if you want to ask me questions about the creative process, songwriting or anything else, that would be great. I’d also love to hear what you’re doing now. I’d be happy to chat with you

New rock album in sight?

The musician’s still current studio album was “Brat”. It was released in 2024. The LP brought her ultimate global fame. But the “Brat” era is now supposed to be over. She made this plan clear with the 2026 soundtrack for the “Wuthering Heights” film adaptation. And fans have been waiting ever since for news, new music, and the pop star’s new direction.

The upcoming event could also be used for an album announcement. Sources close to her previously stated in April 2026 that the artist had allegedly even completed recording a new record. Stylistically, this should go in a rock direction – Charli xcx already spoke about this in an interview with “Vogue”: “I think the dance floor is dead. So we’re making rock music now.”
