Mediaset hires Francisco Moreno as its new News Director

Mediaset begins the restructuring of its information services with an important addition to its organizational chart. The audiovisual group signs Francisco Moreno, until now sole administrator of the Radio Televisión Canaria Public Entity, as its new news directorwho will report directly to its CEO, Alesandro Salem.

The restructuring of the News Mediaset Spain will involve the comprehensive renovation of Informativos Telecinco, the relaunch of Noticias Cuatro starting in January, which will have midday, evening and weekend editions, and the reorganization of news content in the digital environment.

The renewal of the group’s news programs will include a strong commitment to the redesign of the image and the construction of new setswhich will incorporate the latest advances in technology, scenography and lighting, use of multipurpose spaces and narrative supports.

Juan Pedro Valentín will serve as deputy director with editorial responsibility for Noticias Cuatroreporting directly to Francisco Moreno.

Francisco Moreno, a professional with extensive experience in television

Graduated in Information Sciences from the UCM, Francisco Moreno (Ronda, Málaga, 1964) has developed his professional career mainly in senior management positions in audiovisual media.

In 1987 he joined RTVE, where he remained until 1989. In 1990 he was appointed head of TVE’s Daily News Services in the Canary Islands, a stage in which he worked as a special envoy in places in conflict such as Mauritania, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Liberia. . In 1999 he left the public entity to take over the management of Antena 3 in the Canary Islands. In 2001 he was commissioned by the Government of the Canary Islands to revive the Public Radio Television of this autonomous community, which during the years 2002 and 2003 became the fastest growing television station. At that time, the Public Entity was incorporated into FORTA, an organization of which he has been president on two occasions.

In 2005 he joined the Prensa Ibérica Editorial Group as General Director of the Audiovisual area. At this stage he also produces television programs such as ‘Los ads de tu vida’. Between 2013 and 2018 he worked as an independent consultant for the institutional relations of the Ministries of Education and Industry of the Government of the Canary Islands and in 2014 he began to manage all the multimedia corporate and institutional communication of the multinational hotel company Lopesan until his appointment as sole administrator of RTVC in 2019.

He is a Talent Award winner from the Academy of Television and Audiovisual Sciences and Arts of Spain (2009) and since 2011 he has been a member of the board of directors of this institution, of which he is currently vice president.
