Media boycott for Roelvinkjes and Hazesjes? ‘Yes, it’s non-news!’

Johan Derksen believes that there should be a media boycott of two well-known showbiz families, namely the Roelvinkjes and the Hazesjes. “It’s just non-news every day!”

The constant news about the Hazesjes and the Roelvinkjes is really starting to become too much for Johan Derksen. He wants it to stop and put in an appeal last night Today Inside to stop the extensive reporting on these two showbiz families. “I want to make a proposal, right?”

Black list

It’s bothering Johan. “Every morning I look through and read all those newspapers, but the Hazes family and Dries’ family there in Amsterdam, can’t those two families be put on a blacklist or get a media ban?”

He continues: “Because the news this morning was that Dries thinks Paul de Leeuw should leave his show and Dries’ son was back from rehab in South Africa. Is that news? It goes on and on. Henny Huisman is angry that he did not receive an invitation to the Televizier gala. Is that news? And the newspapers are full of them!”

Non-news

Johan doesn’t understand why this is all over the news. “And the serious newspapers also take it into account, right? That kind of non-news should just be thrown away. You don’t read a newspaper for non-news.”

Colleague Wilfred Genee: “You’re actually saying cancel that whole thing?”

Johan: “I am not saying: cancel, but I do say to be critical: what is news and what is not news?”

Gossip magazines

Wilfred points out to Johan that many people simply like to read about the fortunes of celebrities. “There is a group of people in the Netherlands who find that very interesting.”

Johan: “Exactly, but there is a whole framework with gossip magazines where they can put all that in.”
