Mechelen imposes preventive house arrest on eight young people during New Year’s Eve: “We can do without troublemakers”

During the coming New Year’s Eve, the city of Mechelen will impose preventive house arrest on eight young people. This concerns young people between the ages of 14 and 18 who have repeatedly caused a nuisance in the past or have been involved in serious acts of violence. “New Year’s Eve is a moment when thousands of Mechelen residents want to start the new year together, and that must be safe and pleasant for everyone,” says Mayor Bart Somers.
