Meat Loaf’s widow spoke out in an interview, reaffirming how loving her relationship was with the musician, who passed away on January 20, 2022 at the age of 74. Deborah Aday also spoke about the final minutes with her husband.

“I was lying close to Michael as he took his last breath and my sadness is beyond words,” Aday told People. “I always called him by his first name because I didn’t see him as ‘Meat.’ I feel great gratitude for the love that has reached me from all over the world. It meant so much to so many people and it was a pleasure to share it with the world. As his wife, I also want everyone to know how much he meant to me as a husband.”

Meat Loaf was a warm person who liked to hug others

One of the best memories of him is that both of them could laugh a lot together. In addition, she will always remember his good-natured nature: “Michael was a hugger – such a physically loving and kind man, and I am grateful that he brought out these qualities in me.”

The couple married in 2007. Since then, not a day has passed “when we didn’t tell each other how much we love them. There wasn’t a day that we didn’t hug,” recalls the artist’s widow.

In the US alone, song sales and streaming views skyrocketed in the days following Meat Loaf’s death. In Great Britain, the musician apparently even made it back into the top 20.
