At the upcoming edition of AZ – sc Heerenveen on October 21, half of the away section will be available to fans of the Frisian club. That means a capacity for only 375 supporters. This decision was taken by local authorities following the disturbances during the previous confrontation on April 1 earlier this year.
For supporters of SC Heerenveen it is only possible to visit the match on October 21 in Alkmaar with the organized bus trip. Coming with your own transport is therefore not permitted.
Fireworks
The match between AZ and SC Heerenveen on April 1 was marred by fireworks that Frisian supporters threw onto the field. Referee Jochem Kamphuis stopped the match after ten minutes. The match was resumed after a period of ten minutes.

Incident
Measures are also expected when AZ visits Heerenveen on January 28, 2024. Since an incident also took place in the away section during the previous meeting between both teams in the Abe Lenstra Stadium. It is not yet known which sanctions are involved.
According to SC Heerenveen, fourteen perpetrators were involved in the fireworks incident. Six of them have received a stadium ban from the KNVB, varying in duration from 18 to 72 months. They also have to pay fines.
