Mayor of Anderlecht introduces curfew for teenagers under the age of 16 on New Year’s Eve: “To protect young people”

Fabrice Cumps (PS), mayor of Anderlecht, has announced a striking measure for New Year’s Eve: young people under the age of 16 are no longer allowed to be on the street in the area around South Station without the supervision of their parents after 7 p.m. Anyone who does not follow the rules will be arrested. Brussels South Police calls it important support. “Partying is allowed, absolutely, but it must be done safely. The goal is to avoid escalations and give emergency services the opportunity to do their work.”
