During his mayor, Adams was accused of accepting bribes and illegal campaignonations. That case was dismissed at the beginning of April. The Ministry of Justice did not want Adams to be prosecuted, so that he could help President Donald Trump with the approach to illegal migration.
The battle for mayor now is probably between the Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani and former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who participates as an independent candidate.
Trump was pleased with Adams’ decision, because he thinks the voices for Adams are now going to Cuomo, which he would rather have as mayor than the left Mamdani.
The Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa is not a serious opportunity in the city dominated by Democrats.
