Maxime Meiland says he is to stop television, but the big question is: where will she make ends meet? Does she have to go behind the checkout? “Hopefully she saved enough.”

The TV career of the Meilandjes is of course finite: at a certain point all that moving will be a trick and the viewer really starts to puncture it. Maxime Meiland seems to be sorting on a TV exit, because she says in the latest Beau Monde: “I feel that the time of stopping is coming. I notice that by myself.”

Shitload

Maxime says that the feeling of wanting to stop TV has become stronger because of all the fuss about her abuse accusation. “I got a shitload over me that I could not have foreseen. In that book I am so vulnerable and that people question my story, touches me enormously.”

Private boss Evert Santegoeds thinks the rack is a bit out anyway. “It is a bit ready anyway, the television. I always thought she would present a quiz or something, but I don’t know if she is very ambitious and wants more than what she is doing now. That is just a bit of screaming for the camera and leading her own life.”

Television career

Evert says in his podcast Strictly private That he has overestimated Maxime. “I thought she would get a television career, but I don’t think that’s very much.”

He continues: “You should not uncork good wine too early, I always call, but the time to do that has come yet or maybe the moment is over now. That book is of course not such a very great success. It is the least sold book.”

Enough saved?

The question is how Maxime wants to finance her TV exit, according to the private boss. “She just has to work and if she doesn’t want it on TV, I hope she has saved enough in recent years. She has threatened to stop with it before, but I think she finds it very difficult.”

All in all, she will regret her abuse accusation, he concludes. “She has turned it upside down herself. She will have thought about whether that was such a sensible choice to bring that rape in the book that it was even on the cover.”
