Maxime Meiland (29), unlike her parents Erica (62) and Martien (64), still has a whole life ahead of her. Couldn’t she do better to get something in place for Chateau Meiland?

It was a great success on SBS 6 for years, but now it is coming to an end: Chateau Meiland. Paterfamilias Martien Meiland has been saying for years that he wants to stop, but because of the negative publicity about her accusation of rape, daughter Maxime no longer feels like it. Is it wise to stop watching TV at her age?

Maxime as a TV star?

Shouldn’t Maxime try to get something else out of the TV bosses with their fat wallets? According to Radio 538 DJ Frank Dane, she would be ideally suited as a presenter: “You should give Maxime a television contract right away, right? She can also carry a series with Leroy and the children?”

Private boss Evert Santegoeds said a few weeks ago that he had expected Maxime to do more on TV: “I always thought that she would present a quiz or something, but I don’t know whether she is very ambitious and wants more than what she is doing now. That is just screaming a bit in front of the camera and continuing to live her own life.”

‘No, I don’t want to!’

How does Maxime view this? Does she have ambitions? “Well, then it must be a lot of fun. I think what we are doing now is unique. But the rest on television: no, that is not my ambition. It is not really my world either,” she says in the Weekend.

She thinks it’s too hard a world. “Yes, I think so. I hope that in a few years I will have built up something of a business myself. I don’t know exactly what kind of business yet. But that is really a dream and I want to make it come true. Other than that, I don’t really have much to wish for. At least, yes: a little rest, haha!”

Psychologist

The negative reactions that TV fame brings with it in particular have gotten under Maxime’s skin. “I did have a period when I was really bothered by it. At one point I went to a psychologist, because I thought: I can’t figure this out on my own.”

She concludes: “That helped me a lot. But it is quite tough, yes, when people call you a fraud.”
