Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen first commented in the media after the birth of his daughter and received a lot of good advice.

Max Verstappen entered the Formula 1 driver camp at the Miami Grand Prix on Friday, and that’s no wonder: Verstappen has been the father of a daughter for a few days.

He and his partner Kelly Piquet initially kept the birth secret: Red Bull had excused Verstappen for the media day on Thursday, Verstappen only traveled to Miami on Thursday evening – luckily he had spent a few days with his young family, he said in conversation with “Espn”.

The birth itself describes Verstappen as a “great” experience and says: “You never really know what to expect, but it was very nice and something very special.” As Verstappen’s daughter is called, you can see in the video above (opens in the article picture).

Good advice for the young father

And now congratulations patter on Verstappen and Piquet from all sides. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, as father of three children, says: “Get on sleepless nights and early morning hours and make sure that you take part in changing diaper-that’s mandatory.” Verstappen simply says: “It will work.”

But what about the motorsport “wisdom” that a racing driver loses something with every child? Here, clean driver Nico Hülkenberg gives his Formula 1 colleague Verstappen all-clear: “I think everyone is of course different, but I can only speak for myself, and personally I do not have the feeling that this is the case.”

A racing driver just fades out in the racing car. “We are then focused and have the urge to bring performance and get the maximum out,” explains Hülkenberg.

Hülkenberg does not feel broken down

If at all, then a child is not a disadvantage, but an “additional advantage”, he says. His daughter “gave him so much” outside of Formula 1, and that helped him “in a way” also when driving. Hülkenberg does not go further into detail at this point.

He only called Verstappen “Welcome to the Club” of the Formula 1 fathers: “Since the departure of Sergio Perez and Kevin Magnussen At the end of last year I was the only father in the field that was a fun fact. Now Max is part of this circle.”

And maybe the radio even jumps over to the next generation? Team boss Horner can imagine that: “I have dealt with horses a lot in recent years. There is a lot about blood lines.”

Verstappen’s daughter clubs the DNA of a four-time Formula 1 world champion with the Piquet family, where the new grandfather Nelson Piquet has also reached three World Cup titles. “So there are seven titles together,” says Horner. “These are not a bad prerequisite.”
