Bayern boss Eberl advises players to change

He was never really able to assert himself at Bayern. Now Sacha Boey has received a clear announcement from the sports director of the German record champions.
After almost two years in Munich, the FC Bayern chapter could end again for Sacha Boey. During the test against RB Salzburg, sports director Max Eberl commented on a possible change for the defender – and made people sit up and take notice.
In the mixed zone, Eberl said about inquiries regarding Boey: “If Hiroki (Itō, editor’s note) and Phonzie (Alphonso Davies, editor’s note) are back, then we have full-backs en masse and of very high quality. And then it can be really difficult for one or the other player. Then it also makes sense if you think about maybe changing.” Officially, Boey is currently absent due to illness.
It would be the end of a rather unsatisfactory time for both sides: Boey came to Säbener Straße from Galatasaray in Istanbul for 30 million euros at the beginning of 2024, but he has not been able to assert himself at Bayern so far – neither under the then Thomas Tuchel nor under the current trainer Vincent Kompany. In a total of 37 appearances, the Frenchman has one goal and five assists, but was only on the pitch for 1,655 minutes. In addition, Boey was prone to errors, especially in the early stages of his time at Bayern, and made a few mistakes. He has therefore been considered a candidate for change for a long time.
At the start of the 2025/26 season, Boey was actually initially seeded, played regularly in the first nine Bundesliga games and was in the starting line-up several times. But he no longer plays a role in sport: his last appearance was in November. This was followed by three games without being used on the bench, after which he was no longer called up to the squad.
