The Mauerpark has grown and now it is supposed to be even greener.

If things continue like this in Berlin, we’ll soon all be living in the country.

But seriously. The Mauerpark had suffered a lot, that’s true. But it’s not just about dead trees and holey lawns.

When I walk through Mauerpark, which happens now and then, I notice something completely different.

First the garbage lying around. Leftovers from parties and picnics.

Secondly the pungent smell of joints. If you don’t smoke weed here in the countryside, you’ll be noticed immediately.

Third the strange absence of park design.

The last point is a matter of taste, admittedly. But garbage and drugs, you can do something about that. Not to forget: there are many other parks in Berlin that deserve a refresher.
