Matti Rönkä spends his first Christmas with his grandchild born at the beginning of the year.
The upcoming Christmas is for the well-known news anchor Matti Röngä65, very special. It’s the first time he gets to spend with his own grandchild.
The tire became a grandfather at the beginning of the year.
– He doesn’t quite understand Christmas yet, but the light of the candles is definitely sparkling in his eyes, Rönkä reflects in an interview with Iltalehti.

Rönkä gives hints about what is possibly going to be given to the little one as a child.
– I have a big creature in the works that you can climb and ride with, Rönkä reveals.
The former news anchor says he likes to tinker with all kinds of things himself. For next year, he plans to make an elf door for his grandchild.
Big help
Rönkä says that the birth of a grandchild has changed above all his relationship with his own child.
– It’s hard to say which one will change. The relationship becomes different in between, says Rönkä.
It is great for Röngä to be able to help his child, who lives nearby with his family. Rönkä is also happy to be asked for help.
– If they need to go to the dentist and both are at work. It can be an awfully big help if you go carting for an hour, Rönkä describes.

Rönkä recalls that when his own children were small, their grandparents did not live nearby. Röngä’s cousin, who was the only relative living nearby, was a big help.
– Many people can be really in trouble if there are no such auxiliary networks.
Christmas treats
Röngä’s three children are already adults, but certain traditions still remain. Rönkä sets up a Christmas tree in his home and enjoys better than usual meat and red wine at the Christmas table. Rönkä doesn’t particularly care about boxes, but peas and beans taste good.
Among delicacies, Rönkä chooses chocolates and peppers rather than Christmas tarts. The declaration of Christmas peace is followed with a sparkling.

The schedules, on the other hand, come to life when the children also visit their grandparents’ and spouses’ families in turn. Then the plans just have to be coordinated.
– It could be that we celebrate Christmas Eve as Eve or something similar, Rönkä says.
Sweat to the surface
Rönkä retired in February. Life is now more regular, which is reflected in your own well-being. The eating rhythm has changed for the better and I have more time to exercise.
Rönkä strives to do a “proper sweat performance” at least four times a week. Sports have always been an important part of life. Now the new everyday allows for a more purposeful approach to fitness. In winter, Rönkä is waiting for plenty of snow to be able to go skiing.
In her diet, Rönkä prefers light, vegetarian and less processed food.

There is enough work
For Röngä, retirement has not meant leaving work. In autumn, Röngtä appeared Onnen Kaukoranta -book, the events related to which have filled the calendar. We will see Rönkä at the beginning of the year Let’s hang out– as the program’s new host Jenni Poikelunus alongside.
Rönkä replaces the one who hosted the first two seasons of the show Riku Rantalan. Some social media users were not happy that a pensioner was washed into the place. Rönkä himself has not heard such comments.
– Of course, I follow Yle’s situation with great sympathy and concern. But this washing of my seven shipments really won’t take away anyone’s job, Rönkä acknowledges.
Röngä was flattered when Yle asked him to the program. He was happy to go along.
– Vieroksu’s quizzes and quizzes, where either scheming or boasting about stupidity. When I familiarized myself [Hengaillaan-ohjelmaan] more precisely, I decided that this probably fits me. Here, according to the hope, we will be pleasantly surprised by people’s attention and knowledge, says Rönkä.
Hanging out starts in January on TV1 and Areena. See all TV programs and broadcast times in Telku’s TV guide.
