The 1990 world champion praised a current German international in the highest tones – and also trusts him to surpass a historical number.

Before his 100th international match for the German national team, Joshua Kimmich receives prominent recognition. Lothar Matthäus trusts the DFB captain to break his record as Germany’s international with the most missions one day.

“I would be happy for him if he at some point he cracks my record of 150 missions,” he wrote Sky-In -expert in his column. On Wednesday, Kimmich could appear for the national team for the national team in the semi -finals of the Nations League against Portugal (9:00 p.m./ZDF and DAZN) in Munich.

Matthäus praised the Bayern professional as an “absolute leader” on and off the square. Kimmich is “serious, consistently powerful and has been spared major injuries so far.” His versatility particularly impresses the former world champion: “Kimmich is a right -back and world -class in midfield. I find it most important in the center, where he determines the rhythm of the game.”

Matthew can understand that national coach Julian Nagelsmann often uses the 30-year-old on the right defense: “I also see no other solution there that convinces me.”
