Matt ‘Joey’ LeBlanc responds for the first time to Matthew Perry’s death: ‘You are finally free’ | Show

Matt LeBlanc is the first of the five remaining Friends-protagonists personally responded to the death of Matthew Perry. The 56-year-old actor, who played the role of Joey Tribbiani in the still popular sitcom, will miss his good friend enormously, he writes on Instagram with a series of photos from the set of Friends.

“It is with pain in my heart that I say goodbye. The times we spent together are some of the favorite moments of my life,” LeBlanc wrote. “It was an honor to play together and call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I will never forget you. Never.”

“Spread your wings and fly brother, you are finally free,” LeBlanc concludes. “And I think you can keep the $20 you owed me now.”

To grieve

Perry died late last month at the age of 54. He played the role of Chandler Bing for ten seasons Friends. The leading actors gave a joint response two days after the actor’s death.

“We are all devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast members. We are a family,” was the statement from the five. “There is so much to say, but now we take a moment to mourn and process this tremendous loss.” They wanted to say “more” at a later time. “If and when we are able to do so.”
