Mateu Morey is missing BVB again for months: Does Edin Terzic “hurt a lot”

Surgery on left knee required

On August 13, BVB full-back Mateu Morey Bauzà made his comeback in the 3rd division 469 days after suffering a serious injury to his right knee – now he has been out for months again. Dortmund coach Edin Terzic confirmed at a press conference on Wednesday that the 22-year-old Spaniard had sustained an injury to his left knee that required surgery.

“Unfortunately, Mateu will not be available to us for a long time. He had to undergo surgery on the lateral meniscus of his left knee yesterday. Accordingly, we will have to do without him in the coming months. Of course, that hurts us a lot,” said Terzic.

In mid-July, Morey, who says he has always remained optimistic, said on the club’s own broadcaster “BVB-TV”: “I try to enjoy every moment with the team on the pitch. That makes me very happy. For me it’s a gift. I’m fine, my knee too. I have a good feeling. (…) In my head I’m one hundred percent stronger, I’ve learned a lot. In a few months I will be stronger on the pitch. Now I need a little more time to find the feeling again, it’s difficult after a year.” He now has to wait even longer for his comeback in the Bundesliga.
