Matalan appoints Ali Jones as head of omnichannel business

The British trading group Matalan bundles essential functions under a common management. On Tuesday, the clothing and furniture retailer announced that Ali Jones has been named chief customer and omni-channel officer. Jones will take over the newly created position on Wednesday, the company said.

According to the group, her tasks include the creation of a new department that will be responsible for all points of contact with customers. The aim is to ensure greater transparency and clear responsibilities in contact with the target group, the company explained. At the same time, the areas of marketing, e-commerce and international business would report to the new manager in order to “create a unified, committed team that works together for the customers”.

Jones was most recently employed as Customer & Community Director at retail chain Co-op Group. Before that, she held various management positions at well-known industry companies such as Woolworths Australia, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Next and Arcadia Group.
