Actually, massive attacks should have occurred in Berlin on Tuesday, July 8th. But now the show in the Spandau citadel has been spontaneously canceled. The reasons? According to the organizing (MCT), it is “unforeseen circumstances” – they would have made the appearance in Bonn impossible. The vague wording heats up the rumor mill.

Recommendations of the editorial team

It is the case that there is no official references to a Massive Attack member. According to the organizer, the tickets for the canceled gigs can be returned to the well -known ticket office inside, according to the information that is available. So no catch -up dates in sight?

Are the cancellation reasons of political nature?

In the socials, assumptions are increasingly loud that spontaneous cancellation of the gig could have political backgrounds. Why? Massive attacks are known for their clear position in the Gaza conflict. Finally, the group repeatedly underlines solidarity with the Palestinians at their concerts: inside – for example by presenting the Palestinian flag.

Finally, the Bristol formation caused turmoil after they let a clip take place during one of their appearances, which included archive recordings by the former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who is considered one of the people responsible for the attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023. This was sometimes perceived as a Hamas advertising, which the band denied.

Plus: The band is close to the BDS movement (boycott, disinvestment, sanctions against Israel). However, these are just speculation – neither massive attack nor MCT have made concrete information about the cancellations.

More too massive attack

Massive Attack, founded in 1988 in Bristol, are considered one of the most influential groups of the trip-hop. The band mainly consists of the members Robert “3D” del Naja and Grant “Daddy G” Marshall. In addition to highlight albums such as Blue Lines (1991) and Mezzanine (1998), the group also became known for their political engagement and socially critical messages.
