HIFK announced on Thursday that the Canadian forward Sean Josling joins the team on a contract for the rest of the season.
The 26-year-old Toronto native will land in Finland on Friday, and the club says in its press release that Josling will bring much-needed scoring and wide play to the team.
The attacker, who shoots from the right, arrives in Helsinki from Slovakia. Josling was fired from Slovakian club HK Dukla Trencin because his performances did not meet expectations, according to a Slovakian newspaper Sportky.
According to the magazine, the 2+4 performances generated in 13 matches were too little in relation to the salary.
At the same time, Trencin also gave up from Tomáš Záborský and From Ville Leskibecause their contributions also did not meet expectations and the cost-benefit ratio was perceived as weak.
Záborský is a familiar name to Finnish ice hockey fans, as he has played in the SM league for Ässie, HIFK, Tappara and SaiPa. Leskinen, on the other hand, has represented Jukurei in the SM league, where he has accumulated 204 games.
