In his younger years, Scorsese developed so much interest in the belief that he was going to study for the priesthood. In the documentions, the American filmmaker says that it never succeeded in becoming a priest.

“I became aware of life around me. Falling in love or being attracted to girls, not that you act accordingly, but there were those feelings, and I suddenly realized that it is much more complicated than this.” Scorsese realized that he “didn’t belong there” because priesthood is all about dedication to others. In the documentary it is also told that Scorsese had to be removed from the training due to misconduct.
The five -part series about Scorsese was made by Rebecca Miller and premiered at the New York Film Festival. In addition to Scorsese and various family members, celebrities such as Robert de Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Mick Jagger also participated in the series. The series can be seen on Apple TV+from 17 October.
Scorsese made famous films like Raging Bull, Gangs or New York and The Irishman. He was also nominated several times for best director at the Academy Awards. In 2007 Scorsese won an Oscar for The departed.
