Marterer in the quarter-finals in Antwerp

Tennis professional Maximilian Marterer is in the quarterfinals of an ATP tournament in Antwerp for the first time since January and could now face compatriot Jan-Lennard Struff.

The 28-year-old from Nuremberg won on Thursday 6:3, 7:6 (7:3) against the Portuguese Nuno Borges, who had eliminated Dominik Koepfer at the start.

Struff (Warstein), who is in second place, can then make the German quarter-finals perfect with a win against Frenchman Hugo Gaston. Marterer recently reached the quarter-finals in Pune, India, at the start of the season, and in Antwerp he fought his way through qualification into the main draw.

Yannick Hanfmann (No. 5) also has the chance to move into the top eight on Thursday. In the evening he will meet former US Open champion Dominic Thiem from Austria.
