Marseille faced Villarreal in the first match of the UEFA Europa League last 16 rounds. The home team won the match played at the Velodrome 4-0 and gained a great advantage.
The goals that brought Marseille the victory were scored by Jordan Veretout in the 23rd minute, Mosquera (KK) in the 28th minute and Aubameyang in the 42nd and 59th minutes.
Villarreal’s Alberto Moreno was sent out of the game with a red card in the 62nd minute.
