Marote | News

How were the beginnings of the brand?

Our company was born with the objective of raising people’s awareness and awareness about the importance of responsible consumption in general and plastic in particular, using design as a tool. That’s where its name comes from, Marote, a word that comes from the Argentine lunfardo and means “head.” We want people to think and use “Marote” before consuming it.

The company has been in existence for three years in the city of Saladillo (province of Buenos Aires) and has been growing steadily, working together with the city’s Protected Workshop CETIDIM, Cooperatives, Companies and Municipalities from whom we obtain plastics to recycle.

What type of products do you offer?

We manufacture design objects with recycled plastic. We have a line of functional corporate products such as key chains, cell phone and notebook holders, diaries, notebooks, soap dishes, toothbrush holders, coasters, boxes, board games, garden starter pots, pet feeders, organic waste baskets; plus pins, medals, trophies and awards upon request.

We also make large-sized products, intended for both public spaces and the home. Among them, our waste sorting baskets, paper baskets, tables, benches, stools, bicycle racks, flower pots and bollards stand out. At the same time, we design and develop products to order, creating strategic alliances with companies to enhance their positive impact.

What are the services you provide?

We accompany public and private organizations that seek to incorporate sustainability, and to a lesser extent end users. Many companies give us their plastic waste, which is our raw material, and from it we make new products that the same company uses to offer its collaborators and/or clients. Each product tells a story, and it does so by carrying with it an “Impact Report”, which tells us how it was manufactured, how many caps it was made with, origin of the material, organization from which we purchased that material, among others.

On the other hand, we hold awareness talks and workshops where we invite people to learn how we work and be part of the process, to live a live recycling experience as a form of learning.

What projects do you have ahead?

We have recently developed a new technology for events called “La Recicleta”, a stationary bicycle that crushes tapas. In this way, we involve the community by crushing tapas while doing physical exercise, and then offer them the opportunity to create their own design object with our manual injector. Participants bring a “residue”, the lid, and take a product, for example a keychain.

In addition, we are close to opening a new location where we will offer live recycling experiences to all those people who arrive with their plastic waste, so that they can experience the process and take home a product at a differential value.
