Transfermarkt has updated the market values of the Qatar Stars League and once again redlined numerous stars who have moved from Europe to the Emirate in recent years. The biggest loss was recorded by Marco Verratti (32), who lost more than a quarter. His former teammate at PSG, Julian Draxler (31), maintains his valuation of 4 million euros and remains the most valuable at Al-Ahli SC.

For Al-Arabis Verratti, on the other hand, it goes down from 18 million to 13 million, which means a devaluation of 27.8 percent. This means that the Italian European champion of 2021 also loses his position as the second most valuable player in the league and is now third. Verratti played all the games on the first eight matchdays and contributed one goal and three assists, but recently he missed three games. At the same time, he is reaching a more mature age for a footballer.

There is also a significant devaluation for Mohamed Camara (24) from Al-Sadd SC, who is down by 4 million euros. With 16 million euros, the former Monaco professional was able to maintain his position as the most valuable in the Qatar Stars League.

The market value curves of, among others, the ex-Leipziger Abdou Diallo (28; -2 million to 6 million euros), the former Union player Aïssa Laïdouni (27; -1 million to 5 million euros), Real Madrid’s former, also point downwards Striker Joselu (34; -500 thousand to 4.5 million euros) and ex-Munich player Javi Martínez (36; -200 thousand to one million euros).

Afif with a Qatari record – striker Olunga devalued for the first time

For the biggest winners, the appreciations are smaller. The only exception is Al-Sadd’s Akram Afif (28), who receives a seven-figure bonus. The Qatari goes up from 6 million to 7.5 million euros, making the winger a personal best and at the same time the player with the highest market value of all Qataris in football history.

30-year-old Michael Olunga from Kenya reached his career high more than two years ago at Al-Duhail and was able to maintain it until the current update. Even today, the multiple times top scorer in the Stars League is still among the five best scorers in the league, but his market value has fallen for the first time since his arrival in the Gulf state almost four years ago. His age and the declining potential for a move to a stronger league in Europe, for example, are reflected in the valuation. With 8 million euros – a million less – he is still in the top 10.

This is how transfer market market values work

The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this will be here listed. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for a detailed definition of market value).
