The Portugal league is the first of the larger European leagues whose market values are updated this autumn. The taxation of 88 of the 501 professionals was adapted as a result of the transfer phase and the start of the season, which ensures large gains in the squad values of the top trio Sporting, FC Porto and Benfica. For the time being, the defending champion from Lisbon overtakes with a plus by 22.2 million to 456.5 million euros internationally clubs such as BVB (438.1 million), the market values of which are only adjusted on October 14. With their upgrading by 26.5 million euros, the Dragões passes Bayer Leverkusen (389.8 million) and the new club from Starcoach José Mourinho is left behind by EUR 22 million to EUR 358 million RB Leipzig (340.8 million). Not so much is happening at the market value tip in Portugal.

Morten Hjulmand (Sporting) and Samu Aggehowa (postage) remain the most valuable players in the league with a market value of 50 million euros. The first change in the top segment affects FCP newcomer Jakub Kiwior: The loan from Arsenal is graded by 3 million to EUR 25 million. “It is important to emphasize that the devaluation we do is not related to its services on the pitch, but rather with the transfer fee paid by FC Porto,” said Gonçalo Tristão Santos, Area Manager Portugal. A purchase option is integrated in Kiwior’s loan contract, which becomes an obligation to do with certain factors -cost: EUR 17 million. This summer, the Portuguese paid a rental fee of over 2 million euros.
Another newcomer in Porto, on the other hand, is one of the big winners: The midfielder Victor Froholdt, which has long been traded at Eintracht Frankfurt, rises by 10 million euros and, according to Sporting striker Luis Suárez-plus 14 million euros-the biggest market work jump in this update. “Froholdt is very young, only 19, and has just come to Porto, but has already secured a place in the starting eleven and is one of the best players in the team,” says Tristão Santos.
Market values in Portugal: Neu-Lissaboner Suárez and Ivanović on the upswing
Meanwhile, Suárez is increasing by a whopping 175 percent, which the Portugal expert classifies as follows: “Here we speak of an attacker who was previously only rated at 8 million euros, but cost the association 22.2 million euros, so of course his market value had to rise. The fact that the sum was not too high shows his immediate impact, even though he is an immediate impact, as the successor to Viktor Gyökeres Heavy inheritance. Greece’s national player Fotis Ioannidis is still waiting for the breakthrough in front of the gate, but in view of the transfer of 22 million, it is adapted to the top by 7 million.
City rival Benfica also has a newcomer in the storm that clearly gains market value: Croatian Franjo Ivanović, born in Austria, switched to the eagles for EUR 22.8 million from Union Saint-Gilloise. Here, too, the transfer has a major impact on its new market value. “Ivanović has not yet stood out so positively at Benfica, although he has already scored one or two goals,” says Tristão Santos. “Nevertheless, he is a young player with potential for whom Benfica was ready to dig deep into his pocket.” Ivanović’s market value increases by EUR 7 million to 20 million euros.
The largest percentage in the higher market value area after Suárez, however, are given two new additions to SC Braga: the striker Pau Víctor and midfielder Mario Dorgeles, formerly North Sjælland. Both increase by 6 million to 10 million euros each: “In this case too, it is a response to the high replacement of 11 million or 12 million euros,” explains Tristão Santos. “They are the two most expensive newcomers in Braga’s club history and a corresponding bet on the future. Braga has shown in recent years that they can take remarkable transfer sums even without the great successes, which we can also do with these players.”
While players like Portos Borja Sainz (+6 to EUR 20 million) and Alberto Costa (+5 to EUR 15 million), Benficas Richard Ríos (+6 to 22 million euros) and Enzo Barrenechea (+3 to EUR 13 million) or Sportings Georgios Vagiannidis (+4 to 12 million euros) are also a few losers Higher market values: SCP routinier Hidemasa Morita (-2 to 11 million euros) or Porto’s Canadian national player Stephen Eustaquio (-1 to EUR 9 million) should be mentioned.
This is how the transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are taken into account, taking into account various pricing models and a strong inclusion of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market values are not to be equated with the transfer sums actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but an expectation value. When collecting the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples are listed here. Transfer market does not use algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
