As part of the market value updates, Transfermarkt has adjusted the professionals in the Australian A-League. Among the biggest winners is talented goalkeeper Dylan Peraić-Cullen (18), who has received an increase of 1,100 percent. An ex-Bayern professional and a Champions League winner, however, are among the losers.

Peraić-Cullen became the starting goalkeeper for the Australian champions Central Coast Mariners this season. In eleven appearances he had to defend himself 17 times and kept a clean sheet twice. His market value climbs from 25,000 to 300,000 euros, making him the most valuable professional in his age group in the A-League.

The biggest winner is Hayden Matthews (20) from Sydney FC, who increased his market value by 700,000 euros to 1 million euros. He only made his debut for the Australian national team in November. The central defender is the second most valuable player in the A-League after the update.

Matthews is ahead of his teammate Joe Lolley (32), whose market value falls by 200,000 euros to 1.3 million euros due to age. There is only a bigger minus for Marco Tilio (23) from Melbourne City. The right winger’s market value drops from 1.2 million to 800,000 euros after he has not played a game since the beginning of November due to a thigh injury.

With Juan Mata (36) and Douglas Costa (34), two world stars are under contract in the A-League. The Spaniard, who joined the Western Sydney Wanderers in September after six months without a club, drops by €200,000 to €500,000. He was involved in two goals in eleven games. The loss for ex-Munich Costa is smaller, his market value falls from 800,000 to 700,000 euros. The Brazilian scored two goals and assisted on two more goals in six appearances.

Costa’s club Sydney FC recorded an increase of 525,000 euros and is the most valuable squad in the league with 10.1 million euros. The biggest increase is for the Mariners and Western United, each of which is up by 950,000 euros. Perth Glory is the biggest loser with a loss of 1.33 million euros.

This is how transfer market market values work

The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this will be here listed. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for a detailed definition of market value).
