Nine St. Paulians upgraded
It took 17-year-old Assan Ouédraogo from FC Schalke 04 two market value updates to become the most valuable player in the 2nd Bundesliga. After the start of the season, the new professional received an initial valuation of half a million euros. With the update in October, the market value changed twelvefold: 6 million euros. Otherwise, things look bleak in terms of squad development at S04. It is 1. FC Nürnberg and FC St. Pauli that are making the biggest gains.
With his new valuation, Ouédraogo not only joins Ludovit Reis from HSV at the top of the second division, who remains at 6 million euros, the Schalke player is now also one of the 13 most valuable players under the age of 17 worldwide. “He has asserted himself in the strong midfield of the Royal Blues and has attracted the interest of top international clubs such as Milan, Chelsea and Bayern,” says market value admin Konstantin Haas (“XAAC1609”), explaining Ouédraogo’s enormous upgrade, which is unparalleled in the update.
Nuremberg’s top talent Can Uzun has so far been valued at the same level as Quédraogo. And the attacking midfielder, who will celebrate his 18th birthday in November, also showed promise for the future. “Nine scorers in ten games, already four goals in the second division, also interest from international clubs such as Benfica, Everton, Frankfurt, supposedly before his debut with the Turkish national team,” says Haas, summarizing the arguments for a significant increase in Uzun’s value. In the update, the Regensburg native rises by 4.5 million euros (900 percent) to 5 million euros – third place in the league ranking, level with Kiel’s BVB loanee Tom Rothe (+1.5 million) and Fortuna Düsseldorf’s Christos Tzolis , who was able to confirm his previous assessment.
Hartel, Dárdai & Co.: Biggest winners in the update of the 2nd Bundesliga
Big gains at FCN & St. Pauli – Saad’s “courageous style of play stands out”
With Uzuns Plus, the “Club” has already recorded the largest share of the increase in the value of the squad. Other players who are rising in valuation include the two 20-year-old youngsters Nathaniel Brown and Jens Castrop (+800 thousand and +500 thousand respectively to 1.5 million euros each) as well as the just 17-year-old Finn Jeltsch , which is given a market value for the first time and, like Uzun, is valued at 500,000 euros. The FCN squad increased by 6.5 million euros in the current update to now more than 26 million euros.
The squad value at FC St. Pauli is going up a little less sharply. But the leader from Hamburg has by far the most winners in its ranks with nine players who are being upgraded. Including Marcel Hartel and Eric Smith, two players who each increased by one million (to 2.8 and 2.5 million respectively). There are also two players who can more than double their valuation: Lars Ritzka (+400 thousand to 700 thousand euros) and whiz kid Elias Saad, who played for Eintracht Norderstedt in the regional league last year.
“The 23-year-old is almost unstoppable in one-on-one situations due to his outstanding technique,” comments market value coordinator Tobias Kröger on Saad’s development. “His courageous playing style stands out in a league comparison, so he has probably already aroused the interest of various Bundesliga clubs,” said Kröger. Gladbach, Frankfurt and Werder Bremen were recently considered possible contenders. Meanwhile, Saad made it into the Tunisia national team. His market value increases by 950,000 euros to 1.5 million euros, the FCSP’s squad value increases by around 4.4 million euros to 23.8 million euros.
Baumgartl in the middle of Schalke’s downward spiral – Bénes climbs in the HSV ranking
With a squad value of a good 33 million euros, the struggling Schalke are still well above the neighborhood club, although the player with the biggest loss can be found in the update among the “Knappen”. “Timo Baumgartl is one of the big losers of the season so far,” explains Kröger. “He adapted seamlessly to the poor performances of his teammates, although one would expect a player of his caliber to play a leadership role. He has so far been unable to justify his high market value for second division standards.” The fact that there is no collective devaluation for Schalke is solely due to top winner Ouédraogo. Otherwise, almost only devaluations can be found in Gelsenkirchen: In addition to Baumgartl’s fall of 1.2 million euros to just 1.8 million euros, Cédric Brunner (-800 thousand to 1 million) and Paul Seguin (-700 thousand). to 1.8 million).
Many Schalke & Herthaners: Biggest losers in the 2nd Bundesliga update
Further significant increases can be found in individual cases in the Hannover 96 squad, where the 19-year-old storm talent Nicoló Tresoldi increased by 200 percent and is now valued at 3 million euros instead of 1 million euros. For Hertha teenager Bence Dárdai, the increase is even 300 percent, with an increase of 1.5 million to 2 million euros. And for Ragnar Ache at 1. FC Kaiserslautern, a doubling of his market value to 2 million euros now means first place in the FCK squad. László Bénes is not that far at Hamburger SV yet, but the Slovakian is one of very few “Rothosen” players who have recorded a plus.
“László Bénes had a fantastic start to the season and was already involved in eleven goals in the league and cup,” says market value expert Kröger. “He is currently an integral part of the first eleven and is certainly one of the best midfielders in the league.” With an increase of 1.3 million euros and the increase of 500,000 euros for Ignace Van der Brempt, both players are now rated at 3.5 million euros – the second highest HSV market value behind league leader Reis.

This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this will be here listed. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for a detailed definition of market value).
