Mark Zuckerberg’s megalomaniac construction project: villa in Hawaii with bunker to shelter when the world ends | News

Mark Zuckerberg (39), founder of Facebook and boss of tech company Meta, has a gigantic construction project underway in Hawaii. According to research by ‘Wired’, Koolau Ranch will cost around 250 million euros. The complex has numerous tree houses, a village with luxurious villas and a huge underground bunker. And everything must remain secret.

Zuckerberg bought the extensive property on the island of Kauai in 2014. Wired’s investigation now makes clear what plans Zuckerberg has for it. It looks set to become one of the most expensive construction projects in modern history.

Twelve buildings will rise above ground on the domain. These are two spacious, centrally located villas that are connected to a group of eleven disc-shaped tree houses. The property will have at least 30 bedrooms and 30 bathrooms, as well as a gym, swimming pools, tennis court and sauna.

The villas are connected underground via a tunnel system that also provides access to a bunker where you can take shelter in the event of an apocalyptic disaster.

The underground bunker is 5,000 square meters in size, has an explosion-proof door made of steel and concrete, and has a water tank of 17 meters by 6 meters. The unit is self-sufficient in terms of electricity. There is a living and working area and, just in case, an escape hatch.

confidentiality

A two-meter-high wall will be built around the entire domain to keep out prying eyes. After all, everything within those walls must remain strictly secret. That is why everyone who works there must sign a confidentiality agreement. Several employees have reportedly already been fired after violating them, for example by sharing a photo on social media.
