Mark van Bommel has been voted trainer of the year in Belgium. The 46-year-old Dutchman led Antwerp FC to the national title in his first season and also won the Belgian Cup.
Van Bommel has been trainer of the Belgian club since the summer of 2022. In June he received the trophy for coach of the season at the Pro League Awards.
Van Bommel was previously nominated for the title of Coach of the Year, but he did not receive that award. At the end of last year, that honorary trophy went to Rachid Meziane, the national coach of the Belgian basketball players.
This season things are going a bit slower for Van Bommel’s Antwerp. The team is in sixth place, 16 points behind leader Union.
